Creating Graphs and Autographs

Overview

Video40x40

Interpretation of geochemical data using p:IGI+ really starts with graphs. Graphs in p:IGI+ can either be created New by the user from scratch or pre-defined plots (Autographs). Here we will look at the available Autographs and how to create new graphs.

Version: p:IGI+ 1.7.2 and 1.9.0.6 (Aug 2017, Jan 2018)

Usage:  Graph --> New Graph --> New scatter plot... , New histogram... , New triplot , New depth plot , New parallel coordinate plot

How to use in practice

Graphs

graph

To create a new graph in p:IGI+ select Graph --> New Graph --> Respective Graph type... or use the toolbar shortcut icon. When entered into, the creation dialogue window will display a Custom Plot option at the top of the graph list on the left hand side from which new graphs can be made. A range of different interpretative graph types are present within p:IGI+ and can be created (more are planned). Enter each graph for specific details:

The Artefact Manager has a Default Base Blue folder for each graph type and once created a new graph will appear in the appropriate folder. From here created graphs can be relocated as wished and filtered on as needed.

On creation, the graph axes on a new graph are auto-set to ensure a full visual display of all applicable project data. These can be edited through Graph Manager.

Autograph

Pre-defined Autographs are listed within the respective new graph (listed above) type creation dialogue window, accessed from (Graph --> New Graph --> Respective Graph type... or use the toolbar shortcut icon). The New Graph Creation window presents both a list of all available autographs for that graph type alongside a preview window to view the autograph prior to creation.

The Autograph list can be filtered in accordance with a selection keyword tags (against which autographs have been assigned):

  • Age
  • Alteration
  • Correlation
  • Environment
  • Gas
  • Generation
  • Kerogen Potential
  • Kerogen Quality
  • Maturity
  • Migration
  • Unconventional

A reference list associated with the provided Autographs is provided in the p:IGI+ online User Guide.

The Artefact Manager has a Default Base Blue folder for each graph type and once created a chosen autograph will appear in the appropriate folder. From here graphs can be relocated as wished and filtered on as needed.
