Norwegian North Sea Geochemical Database

The Norwegian North Sea Database is currently being put together using publicly available geochemical data reports from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD). The reports are available in scanned PDF format and IGI has systematically catalogued, digitised and compiled these into a single p:IGI format geochemical database. This database is currently undergoing the final stages of our QC process and will be available to purchase shortly.

The database currently comprises data for over 47,800 samples from 576 wells, including over 160 oils, 986 gas samples and approaching 46,000 rock analyses. TOC content is reported for over 26,800 samples with most of these also having additional pyrolysis data. Molecular data are widely available for more than 1800 samples and the isotopic composition of over 1700 samples are reported. Maturity data in the form of vitrinite reflectance values are present for more than 7000 samples. In addition well data, including location and stratigraphy, have been collected and integrated where possible.

The Norwegian North Sea Geochemical Database is provided with a Well Manager file containing available lithostratigraphy and basic well information for all 576 wells. This allows the user to seamlessly add samples from proprietary or in-house sources to the database, and assign uniform stratigraphy, map coordinates and other well information. The dynamic database automatically updates all plots on sample addition to minimise reaction time between data acquisition and interpretation.
