Data and Interpretation Reports

IGI has over 30 years experience in compiling and interpreting large geochemical datasets for the petroleum industry. We are continuously working to expand our range of databases and further improve our current products. Each database undergoes a rigorous quality control process before being released to ensure that our data products are of exceptional quality and can be used with confidence by geologists, basin modellers and geochemists.

We update the databases routinely at the start of each year, to capture any data which has been released over the previous year. This means that you can work with our databases, confident in the knowledge that you have access to the most up to date information available.

If you are interested in data outside of our currently available databases, IGI are also able to compile bespoke databases from proprietary or legacy data. We have a team of 5 highly experienced and skilled database technicians who work solely on compiling and quality assuring our databases. For more information on this service please see the data compilation page or contact our Data Manager.

Barents Sea Geochemical Database

The Barents Sea Database contains over 27,000 samples from 73 wells across the region. It has been put together using publicly available geochemical data reports from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD). Data is included for over 26,700 rocks, 119 oils and 230 gas samples, ranging from screening analyses through to detailed GCMS. This database is an excellent starting point for both regional study and more targeted investigation of specific prospects.

Barents Sea Geochemical Interpretation Report

This report covers identification and characterization of key source rock intervals, correlation of these with oils, condensates and gases, and a regional evaluation of source rock burial, maturation and uplift history. Data used in this evaluation are taken from the Barents Sea Geochemical Database.

Barents Sea 1-D Basin Models

The database contains 65 ready-to-use thermally-calibrated 1-D basin models (in Genesis format). The models provide an estimation of heat flow, geothermal gradient and Cenozoic uplift/erosion in each well location by using vitrinite reflectance data and (corrected) temperature data from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).

Norwegian Sea Geochemical Database

The Norwegian Sea Database contains over 29,000 samples from 196 wells. It has been put together using publicly available geochemical data reports from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD). Data is included for over 240 oils, 590 gases and approaching 28,000 rock samples, ranging from screening analyses to detailed GCMS. This database is suitable for both regional and prospect specific investigation work.

Norwegian Sea Geochemical Interpretation Report

This report covers identification and characterization of key source rock intervals, correlation of these with oils, condensates and gases, and a regional evaluation of source rock burial and maturation.  A section of the report considers potential Cretaceous sourcing in the deeper basins.  Data used in this evaluation are taken from the Norwegian Sea Geochemical Database.
