Raingard Haberer
Geochemist/Modeller
Raingard Haberer got her diploma in Geology in 2001 at the Eberhard-Karl University of Tübingen, Germany. After that she joined the organic geochemistry group at the GeoForschungZentrum Potsdam, Germany working on her Doctoral thesis. This thesis aimed at the verification of the occurrence and the nature of microbial communities in the deep subsurface in a permafrost zone with gas hydrate layers in northern Canada. In the course of her PhD thesis, Raingard became acquainted with the common analytic methods in organic geochemistry, including sample preparation (sediment samples, crude oils) as well as different measurement methods such as MPLC, GC, GC/MS, Irm-GC/MS, and LC/MS.
After a short break working for an insurance company she joined again the organic geochemistry group at the GeoForschungZentrum Potsdam working as a Post-Doc. As such she was engaged in an international industry partnership project dealing with the prediction and quantification of the extent of post-filling petroleum alteration processes in reservoirs in the North Sea and offshore Brazil.
She joined IGI in January 2010 working as a petroleum geochemist and basin modeller. Her work includes the evaluation of geochemical data, the characterisation of source rocks and hydrocarbons in petroleum systems.
If not working, she likes to explore her new environment in Devon and to read a lot of books.
