IGI's Training Course Modules
Following is a summary of IGI’s training modules that have been developed to date. Most of these modules have a duration of around one hour, including 10-15 minutes for discussions. They can be followed up by a workshop session where course attendees individually or in small groups revisit some of the key concepts of the module, typically using real geochemical data or basin models as appropriate. Subject to company confidentiality, attendees are encouraged to bring along geochemical data relating to their current area of interest. When IGI conduct single client training courses we try to use examples from regions of interest to the company, and develop linked worked examples to build up an integrated regional picture where time/scope of the course permits.
IGI’s course modules have been developed over a 25 year period, and are continually revised and updated, often as a result of feedback by clients. Course notes comprise fully illustrated text documents summarising and building upon the material delivered in the module. Most industry-standard interpretation plots are discussed along with appropriate theoretical background and practical issues of planning analyses, sampling and data quality control, and application of this knowledge in a petroleum exploration context.
