Mitchelle Eccles
Software Developer
My role at IGI is as a software developer. I am currently responsible, in part, for developing IGI's exciting, new, geochemical data management solution. I have also taken a lead role in developing the p:IGI+ data access layer.
I have a BSc in Computer Science from Aston University (2008), and studied for a PhD in real-time change data capture, also from Aston University (due to be complete by early 2012). My specialist skills lie in: database systems; web technologies; system architecture design; data warehousing. My future research avenues will be in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) field. I am interested in AI because I think it will form part of evolution's next step (maybe I've been reading too much sci-fi...). I am also an advocate for Free Open Source Software (FOSS).
When I am not being a computer nerd I can often be found either reading a book, on the golf course, or passionately cheering on the mighty Spurs!
