Environmental Policy

IGI Environmental Policy

IGI, providing services to the oil and gas industry, is committed to minimising the impact of its activities on the environment.  IGI's goal is continually improve environmental performance and increase staff awareness of the issues.  IGI proposes to sign up to the Guardian 10:10 policy making our business part of the solution to climate change.  The aim is to reduce its emissions by 10% in one year.  We aim that each IGI employee should participate in this goal.

A.   Minimise travel
B.   Become more energy efficient
C.   Reduce consumption and re-use and recycle as much waste as possible
D.   Procure sustainable products
E.   Compensate for our residual carbon footprint
F.   Make all employees more aware of the environment - Motto THINK before you PRINT!

Action for 2012:

A.   Record miles for road, rail and air and reduce miles by 10%
Avoid unnecessary business travel, using video/web conferencing where applicable, and use the least polluting transport option for necessary journeys unless cost or time is a significant restrictive factor.
B.   Promote IGI's contribution to the 'Cycle to Work' scheme.
Use of insulation, low energy light bulbs, double glazing.
Switch off computers, lights, heating at the end of each day
Encourage employees to dress appropriately for weather conditions
C.   Recycle as much paper/waste as possible
Minimise use of paper.
D.   Use recycled, locally-sourced and sustainable products wherever they are available, affordable and acceptable.
Encourage use of natural water.
E.   Compensate for IGI's unavoidable carbon emissions.
F.   Make employees aware of best practice and to encourage personal responsibility both at work and at home.
IGI aims to review this environmental policy annually and keep up to date with developments regarding environmental legislation.
