Charitable Support

IGI has a long history of supporting annually the following charities:

Our selection of charities is based on a belief in the benefits of long term commitment to low level activities at the village and family level.

IGI is also pleased to support the local comprehensive school, Bideford College with its science specialisation, both with time and finance.

  • IGI is pleased to be a sponsor of Bideford College's Operation Wallacea expedition to Peru.

IGI also contributes to the sponsorship of technical conferences such as Geoscience in South-West England (USSHER), International Meeting on Organic Geochemistry (IMOG), Norwegian Meeting on Organic Geochemistry (NMOG) and British Organic Geochemical Society (BOGS).

2012

IGI feel strongly about not only donating to fight and mitigate the impacts of global issues, but also to give back and support the local community of North Devon, which IGI calls home.  Subsequently, we kicked 2012 off with a £1000 donation to Bideford College to help education be at its best for the leaders of tomorrow.

2011

March 2011 saw the annual StarTrek charity night walk in Ilfracombe, which IGI were thrilled to support with a donation of £200.  The walk is organised by the Ilfracombe rotary club and raises money for the North Devon Hospice, the Southwest Children’s Hospice and the Chemotherapy Appeal.

IGI donated £1000 to the
Rock Watch Magazine in August 2011.  The Rock Watch Magazine is a nationwide club for young geologists which produces a tri-annual magazine to help promote understanding in geology and the natural world for youngsters, a cause close to all of our hearts here at IGI!

For the second year running, IGI were proud to support the
North Devon Hospice with a donation of £1500.
IGI increased our support of
Practical Action in 2011 with a donation to fight global poverty of £3500.  Practical Action works with communities to find practical solutions to the poverty they face.  The charity currently have over 100 projects worldwide and in 2011 Practical Action used technology to directly benefit over 900,000 poor women and men through projects in developing countries around the world.

2010

IGI donated £1500 to the North Devon Hospice in October 2010 to help fund the wonderful support they continue to off the local community.
After the earthquakes in Haiti (2010) and Peru (2007), IGI gave a donation to the
Shelterbox charity. ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity that delivers emergency shelter, warmth and dignity to people affected by disaster worldwide. IGI's donation paid for 2 shelterboxes and helped towards a 3rd. The shelterboxes can be tracked by the following numbers. 50338 50339 50352

On June 12th/13th Dan Cornford took part in the 2010 Care 3 Peaks Challenge
http://www.carechallenge.org.uk/IT. This is a demanding 24 hour trek up and down Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in the UK to raise funds for Care International UK, a charity focussed on tackling poverty around the world. Dan works with IGI on p:IGI software development and we were delighted to hear that he completed the challenge in 23 hours and 40 minutes, despite describing his training regime as "sitting at a keyboard, typing on a keyboard, staring at a screen, talking, more talking and a bit of chat". IGI are pleased to donate £100 and to match IGI staff donations by a further £100.

IGI are pleased to donate £500 to support ActionAid's 'Pakistan Floods Appeal'. ActionAid are currently distributing emergency supplies of food, water, sanitation and shelter to flood victims in rural Pakistan. For more information on the work carried out by ActionAid please go to their website

IGI continued our support of practical action in 2010 with a donation of £3000.
